17 October 2007 - Stunning Tornadoes caught on webcam

Mallorca tornado Incredible photographs of, not one, but TWO Tornadoes have been captured by a webcam on the holiday isle of Mallorca. British tourists taking an early half-term break were stunned as the tornadoes touched down near the resort of Santa Ponsa in Mallorca. CLOUD caught up with Ben Mueller, Santa Ponsa resident, who captured the amazing images. Ben says "I was stunned....the pictures are from both my Sony webcam and my Olympus SP-550 UZ Camera. The tornadoes wer running over the sea near the coast of Mallorca. They are not the first tornadoes I have seen here on the island. Thankfully no damage or injuries occured in the town or the bay of Santa Ponsa".

Check out these amazing webcam tornado photos.

Also check out Ben Mueller's great Santa Ponsa website

Whilst tornadoes are not unusual in the Balearics, to catch such an event on a webcam is truly incredible.

CLOUD would like to thank Ben for sending his amazing story and photos. More photos will be added so please call back soon.

Mallorca Tornado

Hi Mark
I have marked this map with my assumption were these Tornado's were, if you can see I have marked the main one off SP in circle's. Near the Malgrat islands.
There were actually 4 on this day as well as hurricane winds, one came on to land in or around El Toro
and traveled up the centre of the island leaving a lot of devastation in its way Can Valero industrial
estate, taking off roofs and laying flat numerous signs and bill boards. One man had his arm taken off having taken shelter and the tin side bent away and his arm was caught up in it, 10,000 lightning strikes were recorded on Mallorca. Apparently it took the roof off a sports centre people were swimming in the pool as the roof flew away. This is not the first time Tornado's have been seen from Santa Ponsa one was seen from the bay last year.October is the month when anything can happen. You can imagine how much rain that falls in a very short time as well, I sat on my balcony and watched itthe wind bought down 4 tree's in these gardens.
Regards Glenn
