4 Nov 2007 - Is this the world's largest spider web?
The world's largest spider web has claimed to have been found in a rural south Leics village. CLOUD's very own elemental photographer Mark Humpage was wandering across his 3 acre field on Sunday afternoon in North Kilworth, Leics when the sunlight shone across the field and lit up an amazing spectacle. A spiders web had covered the entire 3 acre site. Its reflection shows the expanse of the huge web which Mark caught on camera. Mark states " I recall looking out from the kitchen window about 2pm on Sunday afternoon and noticed a strange glistening on the grass in the field. I wandered over, crouched down and as I looked over the field I was astonished to see a huge interlocking network of webs. It ran from one side of the field to the other. I have never seen anything like it before in my life. As I inspected a fence, bounding the fierld, there were thousands of spiders crawling all over it".
There have been a number of huge spider web sightings this year, and covered by CLOUD, but is this the biggest web in the world? See Mark's amazing spider web photos . Last update : 05-11-2007 16:42
