16 November 2007 - Incredible November Snowfall in Austria.

Austria snow

The ski season has opened early this year in parts of Austria with incredible amounts of snow falling. A far cry from the poor season last year! Vienna is seeing the heaviest November for 40 years. More than 8" of snow has already fell on the city and yesterday over 5,000 cars were blocked in the snow.

Deb and Nigel Fletcher, who run 'Austrian Family Holidays', a family skiing lodge based in beautiful Mühlbach am Hochkönig, are preparing to hit the ski slopes this weekend, as the lifts open early for the winter season. Mühlbach am Hochkönig is situated 45 minutes south of Salzburg and incredible amounts of snow have fallen over the past few days. As Nigel tells CLOUD news "The main road from Mühlbach am Hochkönig to our next village of Dienten was closed from Saturday to Thursday due to Avalanche risk , and shut the other way so it was completely cut off. Also the road up the mountain to Arthurhaus was shut for several days to the amount of snow. It has just re-opened.  We have 80cm in the village and 160 cm on the mountain.  In the next few days there is a chance of warmer weather and perhaps a föhn wind which would then increase the risk of big avalanches. (A föhn wind occurs when a deep layer of prevailing wind is forced over a mountain range creating strong, gusty, warm and dry winds) The lifts are open this weekend and so I should get my first ski of the season".

Nigel has sent CLOUD these amazing photos of the recent Austria snowfall.

This heavy snowfall shows yet again that nature does not conform to the computer-model-based disaster predictions from the global warming alarmists. In the winter of 2005-2006 we had the heaviest snowfall in the Southern Alps here in New Zealand for 70 years. Last winter (2006-2006) we had the severest frost (up to minus 19 degrees Celsius in the South Island for many years. Two of our West Coast glaciers (the Franz Josef and the Fox) have been advancing between 60 and 100 cm per day. When will the general public wake up to the fact that they are being conned by people like Al Gore? Enjoy your
